Etruscan Temples

Background

Etruscan Temples are built on a tall podium and can only be approached from the front by ascending a long flight of steps. Once you get to the top of the structure there is a pronaos which is a deep porch that contains two rows of columns. Here walls of cellas extend from the edges down to the podium. Unlike a Greek temple, the Etruscan temples only have columns on the front not peripteral around the structure. Sometimes there would be up to three cellas.
