Legio XVI Gallica
Legio sexta decima Gallica ("Gaulish Sixteenth Legion") was a legion of the Imperial Roman army.[1] The legion was recruited by Octavian in 41/40 BC, and was disbanded after surrendering during the Batavian rebellion (AD 70);[2] Emperor Vespasian created a new legion, the XVI Flavia Firma. The emblem of the legion was probably a lion.See also[edit]List of Roman legionsExternal links[edit]Wikimedia Commons has media related to Legio XVI Gallica.livius.org accountReferences[edit]Jump up ^ Stephen Dando-Collins (3 September 2013).
